About the team

There is a team of intellegent and strong women behind The Happy Arkansan. Check out the bio for each of these women to learn more about who they are and what they do.

Amanda Cross Founder

Amanda Cross, Founder

I am the overly caffeinated founder of The Happy Arkansan. I founded this site all the way back in 2011 (under a different name at the time, College is Love to be exact.) When I graduated college I rebranded as The Happy Arkansan, and I haven't looked back since. I want this to be a hub of amazing college content from a diverse group of women. I have people on my team who have been there and done that, but I also have women who are still in the process of being in college or searching for their job. I hope that you find The Happy Arkansan helpful as you go on your college journey.

So a little more about me, I am a student getting a MA in Sociology. I have been going to school for a long time, and I am making the transition to work for myself, which is slightly crazy to think about. I love sharing the expertise I have learned over the years as someone who has gone to college, been in a sorority, is more than 3/4ths finished with a MA degree, etc. I want to help others who come from small schools or schools with few resources succeed in college. You don't have to miss a beat, even when the school you came from seems light years behind other people.

Amber Colvin Contributors

Amber Colvin, Contributor

Hi, my name is Amber! I'm a 30-something graduate student living in Memphis, TN with my adorable boyfriend, an evil cat, a hound dog, a big fluffy dog and a LOT of books. My favorite things are cooking, going to restaurants and taking an obnoxious number of pictures of my food - and everyone else's, unintentionally bad movies, history (I'm a PhD student in Early Modern English History), and knitting/drinking tea/cross-stitching/doing the crossword puzzle like an 80-year-old British lady.

I'm originally from Cotter, Arkansas, and went to college at Lyon College in Batesville, where I majored in history and minored in creative ways to keep my library books long past their due dates.

Katie is a lifestyle blogger at synderellax, with an AA in Communication Arts and {coming this May} a BA in Public Relations. In her spare time she's taking photos for the perfect shot or Instagram, writing short stories, or binge watching Netflix. She works at an advertising firm part time as a graphic designer and freelances on the side when she's not busy with her family, boyfriend, dogs or cat.

Katrina David, Contributor

Hi friends! I'm Katrina, a 19-year-old college student-turned-blogger majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Journalism from New Jersey. Above anything else, I am passionate about helping other people, and I hope to one day use my degrees to both create and inspire change in the medical industry so that no one feels limited by their circumstances. My blog, Yours Truly, Katrina, is a college lifestyle blog geared to help other girls navigate the twists and turns that make up the college experience, as well as highlight other girls who are doing amazing things in science-related industries through my #STEMBabes series. In my free time (when I’m not studying/writing/blogging/crying about all of the work I have to do), I love drinking bubble tea, going to concerts, and taking dance classes!
