Over the month of March I was a positive person. At the end of February I had a death in the family that rocked me pretty bad. It was a sudden death and one that rocked the world of everyone in my family. When March came around I was determined to channel that energy into positivity and I came up with the idea of #THAPositivityMonth. One positive quote, every day, for 31 days. This took place on my Instagram and it was such a great idea for me. Here are some lessons I learned after being positive for a month.
Surrounding Yourself With Positivity Works
The more I surrounded myself with these positive quotes, the more I could feel that change in me. I was a pretty positive person pre-Positivity Month, but I think it has only gotten better with time and this month where I surrounded myself with positivity every day. On the days where I looked up quotes and found all of these amazing things I found that I was actually using the quotes and advice on myself. For example on Day Three the quote was, "There are always flowers for those who want to see them," This quote by Henri Matisse definitely changed my viewpoint. That day as I was going home from school I looked for those flowers and I took a little while longer that day just to do so.
Your Positivity Affects Other People
What I found so cool was that this positivity has an impact on others. All of my 31 days of positivity combined had nearly 1,400 likes across the pictures and an average of 45 likes. I know that at least an average of 45 people where influenced by my positivity enough to like the pictures, and that's not even counting people who view the picture but don't like it. The positivity was infectious and brung people to my page. We don't have enough positivity in my opinion. I just loved hearing people tell me that I was the first page they went to in the morning during March for this dose of happy and that made me even happier.
You Don't Have To Be Perfect
I wanted to end this whole month on a very important note. My last quote was "Remind yourself that it's okay not to be perfect." I honestly couldn't think of a better ending to a month that made me so happy and positive. When we get into our moods of happiness it can be hard to recognize that we can be anything but happy. We get in that way of thinking where everything is positive, until it's not. Then when it's not, we freak out to the extreme and we don't consider that we don't have to be perfect. You don't have to be positive 100% of the time. You don't always have to have a smile plastered on your face. You don't have to be happy. You should be happy and positive most of the time though, it's good for your health. Don't force it too much though, you can have human emotions. Bottling those up does you no good either.
