10 Things I Am Looking Forward To This Fall (And A Casual Fall OOTD)
Can you believe that fall is officially upon us? I have big plans for the next few months, and I wanted to share those on my blog today. I also wanted to share an adorable casual fall outfit that I know you all will adore.
Let's get started, shall we?
Note: The team at my local Lane Bryant gifted me these pants, but all opinions in this post are my own! Also, this post contains affiliate links.
1. Cooler Weather
First, and foremost, I am so looking forward to cooler weather. I live in Arkansas where it is frequently hot AF during the spring/summer and parts of the fall. Eventually, it switches over officially. This weekend I got a glimpse of it, but I am ready for 60s/70s all the time and for the leaves to change.
2. Delving Deeper Into Freelance Writing
Each season it feels that I have been able to delve deeper into the career I love so much. I can't imagine what I'd be doing if I wasn't writing. I love my job, and I can't wait to get deeper into it. Last season I got my first off Upwork client. This season I want to continue down that path and pick up another one. I am also excited to continue working with the people I have connected with on Upwork. Right now I am working with an excellent client and getting to write about content that makes me genuinely excited. I can't wait to do more of what I love.
Outfit Details:
Hoodie: SHEIN | Pants: Lane Bryant| Shoes: Rack Room Shoes
A little more about the sizing here, I went a little ham on the hoodie sizing and got a 4XL. SheIn sizing is a bit off, and I wanted this to be looser on me. I am usually an XL in shirts. This one already ran like SheIn sizing, and I wanted it to be comfier so I went as far up as I could go. Just because your sizing in SheIn is huge doesn't mean you are, girl!
As for the Lane Bryant pants, I got these in a 22, but honestly, a 20 would have fit. They didn't have that size in store, so I went up. I tried on the 18, and they buttoned, but they were tight. Once those didn't fit as I wanted, and they didn't have a 20, I just went with a 22 because I liked the pants. I normally wear an 18/20 in pants depending on the fit.
3. Celebrating My Nephew's Birthday
Okay, my nephew is getting SO big. I hung out with him for a while a few weeks ago, and he's the absolute cutest. He is turning four this year which is crazy to me. He is a Halloween baby. I can't wait to continue watching him grow older. My niece turned 8 earlier this year so both my sister's kids are growing up before my eyes!
4. Learning More About Lightroom
If you haven't been able to tell in my last few outfit centered posts, I have changed up my editing a bit. I started editing with Lightroom. I found the best set of presets on Creative Market, and they have helped me fall in love with Lightroom. You can find those presets by clicking here. My personal favorite presets in the pack is The Blogger Collection Natural Light. In the coming months, I want to become more familiar with what I can do with Lightroom so that I can become a better editor and create some beautiful shots for y'all.
5. Covering MEMPHO Festival
In case you didn't know, I am covering MEMPHO Festival in October. I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to cover my first music festival. I'm also excited to eat my way around the entire festival and show you all some of the fantastic food Memphis has to offer. I am not sure if I am more excited about the music or the food. You better believe I will have extensive coverage of both on the blog though.
6. Styling Fun Fall Lewks Like This One
I love fall fashion. Ya girl never has her bikini body ready, but I always have my sweater one ready to roll. Also, I like being comfy and cozy. I love styling looks for you all and giving you all the fall inspiration on my blog. I'm very strategic when it comes to these looks. I love y'all, but ya girl isn't going to style a fall look in 80-90 degree weather. “Girl passes out from filming a fall lewk,” is not a cool headline.
We happened to have a bit of a break in hot AF weather for the start of fall. It was rainy AF during the time, though. So, we had to strategically film while avoiding the rain. We found a few awnings we could shoot under, although as you can see by my clothes, we didn't completely avoid the rain.
7. Celebrating 7 Years Of Blogging
This is crazy to say, but I am coming up on my seven year anniversary of blogging on the internet. College is Love, the precursor to this blog, started around seven years ago. You can still see many of those posts on this blog, they are any of my older posts before the summer of 2015. I actually got a notification the other day that I started the Tumblr account for College is Love seven years ago on September 21, 2011. I don't count that as the official start of the blog. I'll usually celebrate closer to October/November because I didn't start posting on the account right away. So, you could say that I have already passed my anniversary, but if you are like me, you say I have a little while before I can officially celebrate.
Did you know that this blog started on Tumblr? Now, I am self-hosting on WordPress, what a crazy ride this has been!
8. The Return Of The Good Doctor
I don't follow a ton of fall television, but one show I am excited about is The Good Doctor. My family and I found this show over the summer, and we fell in love. We quickly breezed through the first season, and we were excited about its return. We're so excited to continue watching it with everyone else this season. We don't think we will watch it completely live, though, because we hate commercials. We will definitely be watching it on Hulu on Tuesday, sans commercials. Freddie Highmore is such a great actor, isn't he?!
9. Fall Scents
Okay, ya girl is a sucker for everything fall when it comes to scents. I love fall scents. I don't drink a lot of coffee anymore, but give me all the pumpkin scented candles. Ya girl definitely needs to raid Bath and Body Works soon for all the fall candles. Right now, I have been using my wax warmer nonstop and infusing the entire house with fall scents, but I love to burn candles too.
PS: Has anyone been on the DW Home Candles train lately? Do I need to get a bunch of candles from there and do a candle haul? I love trying new candle brands, and I feel like I need to give this one a try because their fall collection looks fantastic.
10. Being More Intentional About Productivity
Last, but certainly not least, this season I am looking to be more intentional about productivity. I have so many grand plans for this season, and that can only happen when I am excited about productivity. So, my goal this fall is to get serious about using the Pomodoro technique and my Brain.FM membership so that I can get more accomplished during these next few months.
Bloopers
I had a few bloopers to share from this shoot, so I thought why not share those with you. In case you were wondering, my dad told me to look tough in the first shot.
Conclusion
So, there you have it. We are at the end of the road for what I am looking forward to this fall. I hope that this outfit inspired you to create some cute casual looks this fall. I also hope that you started to think about some of your own intentions for this beautiful season.
