If you know me, you know I am always trying to find ways to get out of my meal ruts. I am comfortable eating the same thing over and over, to a point. Eventually, I want to mix it up, and that's when I usually head over to the Freshly website for a meal prep reset. Today, on the blog, I am going to share how to eat healthy year-round. I will also share some of my favorite Freshly meals and a fantastic deal with y'all.

How To Make Healthy Eating Decisions Year-Round

Before I talk about my love of Freshly, I wanted to start with some tips that will help you make healthy eating decisions year-round. I don't think you need to be perfect, but making small steps towards healthy living is terrific. I'm not perfect. I don't eat healthy every day, but I like to tweak and change my diet to make better decisions for my life. Here are some tips I've learned over the years on making healthy eating decisions year-round.

Have A Few Recipes You Can Depend On

Meal prepping or even fixing meals daily can get time-consuming if you don't have go-to meals. I love having a few meals or options I can easily depend on if I want something healthier. These options don't need to be fancy. I love making a stir-fry or quesadilla when I need to create a quick meal. It's also about having quick combinations you like. I know I love black beans, chicken, and guacamole. If nothing else, I can make a simple burrito bowl with a few extra ingredients. Once you know the ingredients you love, have them in stock in your pantry at all times, and lean on them when appropriate.

Eat Multiple Times A Day

I am honestly so bad at eating multiple times a day. I can get so wrapped up in work that by the time I think to eat it's almost dinner time. In my opinion, one of the best things you can do is always have quick healthy meal options on hand. Whether that's Freshly or even quick meals like oatmeal, cereal, or some eggs you can whip into an omelet. Having those options available will make it so much easier for you to eat. If you find yourself hungry, tap into that feeling, don't ignore it. If all else fails, set an alarm for specific times to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Set A Weekly Limit For Takeout Options

Takeout is convenient, but it's challenging to make wise decisions when it comes to eating out. It can be all but impossible to understand and find information on ingredients and calorie information when it comes to takeout. Restaurants are getting better, but the portion sizes are awful. Plus, honestly, most of the time we are underwhelmed by restaurant food, especially fast food. You can create some fantastic dishes at home, some in about the same time as getting takeout delivered or picking it up.

Don't Let A Bad Day Turn Into A Bad Week

We are all prone to bad days. Here's the thing about bad days, though, they don't have to turn into bad weeks. We often let our crappy days turn over and spiral out of control. If you have a bad day for your healthy eating habit, that's okay. Instead of canceling the entire week, confine it to that day. If you happen to catch it before the day is over, focus on taking back control of your day. You have so much power. Life is not happening to you.

Get Help When You Need It

Last, but not least, get help when you need it. I know, we can't all afford a personal chef who makes recipes specific to our needs. Most of us can afford some amount of help when it comes to eating, though. In my opinion, Freshly is a form of “help” for me as a person who works from home and wants to eat healthier throughout the week. Let's talk about why I love Freshly so much now.

Freshly Meals I Love Lately

Now, let's move into some of the Freshly meals I love lately. Freshly kindly sent me a box of some of their new dishes as well as some oldies but goodies. I wanted to share those with you in today's post.

Note: I plated some of these dishes, but I didn't plate most of them. Plated or not, I loved all of the dishes I got in this shipment.

Backyard BBQ Chicken

The Backyard BBQ Chicken dish from Freshly is one of their latest meals for the summer. The base for the chicken was delicious and southern with a healthy twist. It featured black-eyed peas, cauliflower rice, bell peppers, lima beans, kale, and other fun ingredients. The base, along with the broccoli, was the perfect pairing with the chicken in this dish. Being from the south, I love barbecue, and this dish was an excellent lunch that gave by BBQ vibes.

Super Pesto & Sausage Fusili

Freshly's Super Pesto & Sausage Fusili was another one of their new dishes for the summer. If you are a vegetarian, they even offer this dish without the sausage if you are interested in Freshly's vegetarian options. Freshly provides at least four veggie-friendly options each week if you don't eat meat. I loved this pasta and how they snuck in extra greens by making a pesto here. Yummy!

Low Country Boil

I don't know about you, but I am always thinking about a good seafood boil. This dish had all the trademarks of a yummy seafood boil: seafood, sausage, potatoes, and corn. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better meal than this one for scratching my seafood boil itch. Can you believe all of this food is only 450 calories?

Aloha Chicken

If you don't know this by now, I am quite obsessed with getting Freshly's chicken dishes. Freshly has so many unique dishes, and the Aloha Chicken is no exception. It's a beautiful dish filled with all sorts of colors of the rainbow. There are so many textures and flavors in the dish that you won't get bored.

Chicken And Summer Zucchini With Quinoa and Citrus Dressing

Next, let's talk about the chicken and summer zucchini dish. This dish is a bit bulkier at 670 calories, making it the perfect dinner, but it's so tasty. The quinoa in this dish is fantastic, and it's the ideal time to explore zucchini right now since it's summer.

Wild-Caught Mahi With Mango Salsa

Last, but not least, Freshly is back at it again with another amazing seafood dish. I loved trying out this dish. The mango salsa was an excellent addition to this dish. There was a ton of vegetables on the plate from the rice dish base and as the side. You'll love it!
