Every once and a while it's important to get out of your comfort zone. Recently I stopped by Lane Bryant in Jonesboro, Arkansas to get some cute items for fall photo shoots. While I got those items, I also saw a beautiful shirt that I had to get for this fall as well. Choker tops can be such a fun way to take your outfit to the next level, especially when you can get them in an adorable color. Today's post will show you how to find the perfect choker top to add to your fall wardrobe.
1. Play With Fabric
There are many different types of fabric you could go for when it comes to choker tops. You could go with something soft like a cotton shirt or something stiffer like a shirt that's mostly made of polyester. Whichever fabric style you choose, you will be super fashionable when it comes to your wardrobe this fall.
2. Look At Different Choker Band Styles
You may want to go with a choker band that's thicker or one that's on the thin side. There are even choker bands that are paired with mesh inserts. It's all about what you feel comfortable with on your skin. The band of this shirt is a lot thicker than some other choker tops I've seen, but it's such a cute top that I can't hate it. Lane Bryant has a ton of different choker band styles on their website.
3. Add In Some Prints
Next, add some prints to your choker top lifestyle! Prints can add a fun layer of style to your choker top that you can't get with solid prints like the one I have on today. For example, check out this top from Lane Bryant in leopard print. It's my exact top, but way more fun! I would pair this with a simple pair of jeans or even a denim skirt like what I have on today.
4. Go With A Choker Top With Buttons
Casual choker tops are fun, but they can be a bit looser than you might like. A choker top with buttons will look way more put together, and it will be harder for the choker to stretch. Choker tops with buttons are also usually more comfortable to put on, in a way, because you don't need to squeeze anything over your face. Choker tops with buttons do have a downside, though, because you may find it hard to button by yourself. The buttons on this top are a tad bit finicky, but once you have them on, everything looks great.
5. Always Try On Your Choker Top Before You Buy
Last, but certainly not least, if you want to find the perfect choker top, you need to try on the top before you buy it. If there are no buttons, you want to make sure that you fit through the choker. If the choker top has buttons, you want to make sure that you can button them. Most of all, though, you want to make sure that the choker top doesn't choke you too much when you have it on.
There should be some pressure on your neck; otherwise, it wouldn't be a choker top. Your choker top shouldn't make it hard for you to breathe or go about your day to day life. Make sure that you try it on for a few minutes in the dressing room all done up. You never want to get something that makes you feel too uncomfortable.
