MEMPHO Music Festival 2018 Preview: 5 Things I’m Looking Forward To
So, here we are, and I have some exciting news to share with y'all. Early next month my dad and I are making the trek to Memphis, TN for a cool festival that's currently in its second year called the MEMPHO Music Festival. Music is one of my favorite things to talk about, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to cover this festival, and I can't wait to share my experience during and after the festival next month. Look out for at least two more posts on this fantastic opportunity for The Happy Arkansan!
Today, I wanted to share more about the festival on the blog. I am doing this in hopes that anyone local to Memphis might get the opportunity to attend this even if they didn't hear about it. I also want to do a little preview of what to expect when you visit the festival this year.
Note: MEMPHO Music Festival is giving me the opportunity to attend the festival with my dad (the amazing person who does all my photography!) All opinions are my own; I am genuinely looking forward to all of this. All photos in today's post were given to me by the MEMPHO Music Festival Team.
With disclaimers out the way, let's chat about five things I'm looking forward to.
1. The Amazing Music
First, I am looking forward to the amazing music, but that makes sense because it is a music festival.
One of my favorite things about this lineup is that it's eclectic and diverse. There is a little bit for everybody at this year's MEMPHO Music Festival.
Here are eight artists I am excited to watch at MEMPHO Music Festival 2018: Beck, Phoenix, Janelle Monae, George Clinton And The Parliament Funkadelic, Milky Chance, Nas, Post Malone, and The Bar-Kays.
This lineup has a mixture of local to Memphis artists as well as artists with fame around the country and world. It's such a great mix of music, and I am excited to see a lot of these artists live. I am picky about what happens when I leave the house, so you know if this lineup is making me do that, it's good!

2. Meeting A Ton Of New People
Music festivals become a family of sorts. There is going to be many new people to meet from the other media outlets to the festival goers. I am not extremely extroverted, but I always love meeting people at concerts. Concertgoers are fun, energetic, and excited to see the artists and bands they've always wanted to see live. Seeing someone fall in love with their favorite artist all over again is one of my favorite things to witness at a concert because it's one of my favorite things to experience myself.
3. All The Local Food And Drinks
You know one of my favorite things to do is eat, if you didn't know that already, I'm not sure how. I don't do an excellent job of hiding that I like to eat after all. There are SO many amazing food and drink vendors who will be at the MEMPHO Music Festival in 2018.
Here are just a few: Corky’s Ribs & BBQ, New Wing Order, Smurfrey Smokehouse, Fresh Gulf Shrimp, Bella Caffe Coffee, and Miss Birdsong’s Sweet Tooth.
With the MEMPHO Music Festival food lineup, you'll get a mix of the barbecue Memphis is known for, along with a ton of other options. I am looking forward to trying out Mempops and Grisanti 9Dough1. Grisanti 9Dough1 has a lobster pizza that I need to get in my belly.

4. The Beautiful Venue: Shelby Farms Park
Shelby Farms Park is a beautiful park set on 4,500 acres of land in Memphis, Tennessee. It has walking trails, bodies of water, and plenty of activities like zip lining and kayaking if you want to participate in them.
Overall, it just looks to be a beautiful venue that will be exciting to explore. I have personally never been to Shelby Farms Park, which will make the visit that much more special. I usually stay pretty close to downtown Memphis when I do trek to the city, so this will be a cool place to explore while I am in town.
5. Camping On Site For The Night
Last, but not least, I am looking forward to camping on site for the night. It's going to be an interesting experience. I have never stayed overnight at a festival event, but I think it's going to be fun to explore the event and then be able to go back to a place on site afterward. I'm usually so tired after festival events, and leaving them can also be rough. I think it's so exciting that they decided to allow camping on site for this festival. It's also going to be great because it'll be October and hopefully much cooler in the south by then.
There are a few options for camping. There are car camping and RV camping spots. The car camping spots get a 20×30 space while the RV camping spots get a 20×50 space. You have plenty of space to keep your belongings safe and sound; then you'll be able to get into the festival.
Purchase Your Tickets Today
There is still time to purchase your tickets today. Prices will go up again on September 24th, so you want to be sure to get tickets while you can! There is going to be a fantastic time had by everyone there.
Single day tickets start at $99, and 2-Day tickets start at $179. Camping passes start at $279. There are also VIP and Super VIP options for those who want to experience the fancy side of festival life.

Conclusion: MEMPHO Music Festival 2018 Will Be Amazing!
I know that this event will be one for the books. I'd love to see you at the event if you are local to the Memphis area! I am going to have such a fun time with my dad attending this festival and giving y'all a good look at the even. Even if you can't attend this year, I hope that it will be on your list to go to next year, because this festival is just getting better and better.
