The Happy Arkansan Happenings: August 2017

Oh my goodness! It is August 30th, which means there is only one more day in August after this. Last month I started a monthly series called The Happy Arkansan Happenings, and it's back for August 2017. This is a great time for you to catch up with various updates throughout my life, the blog, and my Society6 shop that I want you to know about. It's also a great way for you to get a sneak peek at what's to come on the blog and in my life. Let's get started, shall we?

Last month I told y'all about the change in my blog's schedule. I told you I would be publishing 3x a week. If you love what I shared this month, you can expect similar content for the following months. I want to share a mixture of long-form college content, fashion content with a story, sponsored content, and just cool lifestyle pieces. I hope that this content has made you excited overall about the state of The Happy Arkansan.

I am SO excited about where this blog is going in the coming months and where I am continuing to take it. Onward and upward from here my friends!

In other blog news, you can tip me now! I saw one of my favorite blogs to read set up a tip page, and I thought I would give it a go. Running a blog isn't cheap, and if you ever wanted to provide some money to assist in running the blog, you should totally feel free to do so. I use the money to pay for running the blog, pay for day-to-day bills, and shopping as it relates to the blog or my shop.

Pep & Happiness Newsletter

So, randomly, I got the idea that I needed to start a daily newsletter of all things happiness and pep. So, I decided to start a newsletter called Pep & Happiness. It's a daily newsletter delivered to your inbox Monday-Friday at 5 AM CST. The first edition will go out on September 4th! If you need a bit of daily inspiration, be sure to sign up below:

Posts Of The Month

I am so proud of myself because I put out so much awesome content this month. If you are behind on anything, here is your chance to catch up:

They can't all be winners...

They can't all be winners...

Obviously the most important life update in August was graduation!

Graduation Day

Graduation Day

August is a pretty big month for my family, but mainly because my mom is a Leo and she insists on starting her birthday celebration in July even though her birthday is August 14th.

On top of that this month I graduated on August 4th with my Master's in Sociology. It was so awesome to walk across the stage (even confidently, because I stuck a million bobby pins in my hair so my cap wouldn't dare fall off this time.)

I had my doubts about walking. I know that's strange, but I wasn't sure if I even wanted to do it. I was SO ready to be done with Jonesboro, and going back just seemed like a meh fest. But I didn't mind sitting through graduation and by the end of it I was happy that I did. Seeing my family so excited about my accomplishment made me excited about it. Also knowing that my extremely bright niece was able to see me walk across the stage made my day. Education is such a great part of life and I can't wait to watch her walk across the stage.

My entire family keeps asking when a PhD is going to happen and to be honest I am thinking that I am not sure.

Random Fact About Me

Me as a freelance if I were a cat.

Me as a freelance if I were a cat.

This month's fact about me is that I am a freelance writer. I work with companies and individuals all across the United States to tell the personal and brand stories of the people that I work with.

I really love freelancing because I make some amount of money for my posts no matter what. As a blogger you are never sure if you will make any income from a post you make unless it is a sponsored post. With freelancing you are guaranteed to make money on each post you sell.

It's a pretty sweet gig, especially now that I am not going to school and I have more time to write.

I love sharing my stories with y'all so it was a great fit for me to start selling my writing capabilities to other entrepreneurs and businesses.

Since taking my freelance career more seriously I have gotten to work with some pretty awesome individuals and I am so excited to see this blossom even more in September.

Music Of The Month

If you know me, you know that music is a HUGE part of my life. I want to take time to share some of my favorite tracks this month. This month I:

  • Rediscovered my love of Aly & AJ and Britney Spears
  • Got slayed by Kesha's new music (again)
  • Shared some of my fave hip hop tracks of the moment
  • ...and more!

This playlist is 37 minutes long so it's bound to give you some great new tracks to listen to.

This month was definitely hard because basically all I listened to this month was Kesha's new album Rainbow (which is why there are two Kesha songs on this playlist.)

I love how this playlist turned out in the end though.

This month was MUCH slower for my Society6 shop. I wasn't as crazy about designing this month and I only got up a couple of new pieces. I wasn't very invested in the shop this month as my focus has been on my freelance career and getting up all the blogs this month.

I did get up a couple of new designs this month. Here is a peek at them:

One thing that I am VERY excited about is new Society6 Backpacks! These backpacks are quite spacious with room for your laptop, books/notebooks, and all of your other school supplies. I don't have too many of my designs as backpacks at the moment, but I plan to add more of my old designs soon.

Lastly, let's chat about what's coming up in September.

I definitely don't have as much planned for the month of September, but I am really excited about the content that I will be publishing in the next few weeks.

I have a lot of ideas brewing in my head that I can't wait to share with y'all.

I am going to be collaborating on a post with a really awesome fashion brand that I am SO excited about, y'all have no idea. I am also hoping to share a lot more fall centered fashion pieces this September. This is always hard in the south because it is still very hot in September, but I am excited to film some more fall looks.

As far as college content, I am still planning, but I know that it will be great content coming up this month for y'all.

I am also planning to put a bit more effort into my Society6 shop because I really dropped the ball this month.

I would love to know what you think of 3x a week blog posts? Are you digging the content? Let me know!

I cannot wait for the next few weeks to see what September holds for us!
