Creating the perfect wardrobe for the new year can be challenging. Your current wardrobe may feel uninspiring, and this can cause some serious issues if you love fashion like me. If you want to give your wardrobe a refresh for the new year, I have the perfect company you can use year-round.

Look Through Your Current Wardrobe
Before you update your wardrobe for the new year, take a look at your current wardrobe. If you are like me, you probably have a ton of pieces you haven't touched in months. Figure out what stays and what gets donated to friends, family members, or a clothing store that takes donations.
Looking through your closet is a crucial step because it allows you to:
- Get to know your style a bit better.
- Remember items you didn't like as much.
- Understand where your clothing gaps are.
Take Stock Of What Your Immediate Clothing Wants Are
Next, you want to take stock of what your immediate clothing needs are. Revamping your wardrobe for the entire year is cumbersome and challenging. Instead, focus on the first few months of 2020: what exactly do you need help in the clothing department? For example, I am hoping to travel to Memphis in January. Other than that trip, I'm going to be a homebody during the first quarter of 2020. I've made a few too many investments these last few months, and I want a ton of no spend days in quarter one of 2020. When I am looking for clothes right now, my main goal is to find clothing I can work from home in. I want to look cute but comfortable.
Take The Allume Style Quiz
After you look through your current wardrobe and take stock of the clothing you want, it's time to jump on my new favorite website Allume. Allume is a personal styling service that allows you to connect with a personal stylist on the go for just $20. Your personal stylist curates three online lookbooks for you featuring head-to-toe looks that are based on your current clothing wants. Your $20 styling fee is also applied to anything you decide to purchase. (By the way, due to Allume being a 3rd party concierge service, you won't get your refund at the time of purchase. Instead, your styling fee appears in the form of a refund to your credit card within 5-10 business days from the day you purchase.)
I love that Allume is not a box. I didn't have to worry about trying stuff on and returning everything. As much as I love that sometimes, it can be pretty challenging to make it to the post office during busy times like the holidays.
The first step to setting up your stylist appointment is taking the Allume style quiz. Once you take this quiz, you shouldn't have to repeat it to set up a new stylist appointment. But, the quiz is super easy to take. You get to choose different types of fashion you are interested in, provide your sizes, and talk about what your current clothing wants are. You're also asked to submit a full-body image so your stylist can pick outfits that compliment your body type. Lastly, you can also add other information like style bloggers you like to follow and your fashion board on Pinterest.
Set Your Appointment With Your Stylist
After you finish taking your Allume style quiz, you'll be prompted to choose an appointment time. Setting up your appointment is a simple process, but be sure to give your stylist some time to create looks for you. I suggest waiting about 2-5 days from when you initially took your quiz so your stylist can work their magic. So, if you take the quiz on a Monday, schedule your appointment for Wednesday-Friday.
Be sure to look at your plans when setting up your appointment. Your appointment takes place via text message, so you'll need to be able to focus on your phone for a few minutes to answer questions, examine your lookbook, etc.
Chat With Your Stylist
Now comes the fun part, chatting with your stylist. During your session, your stylist will send you the preliminary looks in your lookbook. From there, you can favorite pieces you can't resist and share your feedback with your stylist via text message. I wanted more color in my looks, so I asked my stylist to find a few more colorful pieces for me.
I loved texting with my stylist because it allowed me to get some great fashion recommendations in the comfort of my own home. If you've been following me for a while, you know I am an introvert, so I love that everything happens over text.
Order Fun, Quality Clothing
After you chat with your stylist, they make changes and send over your official lookbook. From there, you can order fun, quality clothing directly from your lookbook. I love that the brands are a mix of ones I love and new to me brands. My lookbook featured clothing from brands I had heard of like ELOQUII, LOFT, Puma, and Modcloth. I also got to discover a few new brands like 1.State, Laundry by Shelli Segal, and SHASHI. It was so awesome to see the looks my stylist put together for me. I also loved that I was able to collaborate with her on that process.
The best part about using this service is that you order using Allume, get the same discounts you'd get from the store, and pay no additional markups on your items. Allume makes it insanely easy to get your shopping done, even if you are shopping from multiple stores. Plus, items ship directly from those stores, so if you need to return anything, you can follow that store's return policy.
Get Great Clothing Without The Stress
Ultimately, Allume allows you to work with a fantastic stylist to get out of your comfort zone and pick amazing head-to-toe looks. Even after your session, you can continue to look back at your lookbooks for fashion inspiration. Plus, if you ever want another session with a stylist, booking your current stylist or a new one is just a few clicks away.
The process of working with a personal stylist never got easier than working with Allume.

I am DEFINITELY going to be signing up in January. I always have the hardest time finding clothes that I like and that look good on me; even when I do find these pieces, I have a hard time styling them with other items in my closet. This sounds like such a great service to use to find those pieces and get some expert styling advice. Thank you for sharing about it!
